THE DRAIN | KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
Length: 1 Minute and 7 Seconds
What I Did: Storyboards, Animatic, Assets, Animation.
This was a freelance project I worked on for the majority of August 2017. The project was created and led by JNA Advertising, and the client was the Kansas Department of Labor. I followed JNA's script and general design aesthetics.
Assets and characters were created in Illustrator and Photoshop, while animation was done in after effects. It really gave me a chance to explore puppet animation further. Wish I could have gotten some rigging scripts to work, but I was able to rig it manually in the end just fine. Who'd have thought my 3D rigging class would have benefitted me in 2D?
ALONE? | 2D PRODUCTION
Length: 38 Seconds
What I Did: Everything, but music
This was my project created for 2D production. A class in which we create a 3-5 shots animated short going through the whole animation pipeline process. Starting from pre-production work (storyboarding, animatic, visual development, etc.) to production (animation, cleanup, coloring, etc.) to post-production (sound, compositing, final editc, etc.)
During this class we had the option to go with an overall class theme or a theme of our own choice. I chose to go with the class theme of "Film Noir" as it is a genre I love. I also wanted to challenge myself to create a film noir short with color instead of resorting to black and white, and showcase the genre through story elements and themes.

BOO-TY SWING | ADVANCED COMPUTERS & APPLICATIONS
Length: 47 Seconds
What I Did: Everything, but music
This was my after effects assignment in my advanced computers course. It was my introduction into animating in after effects, and any form of character rigging in general.
The point was to have a better understanding of the software, and to time out animations to music as seamlessly as possible. As a student I utilized what what learnt in previos softwares, such as photoshop, and put my assests together in after effects.
Overall I had a ton of fun working on this assignment, while I would have preferred to animate this solely by hand drawn 2D animation, I found I rather liked the puppeting aspect as it created an entirely new feel for my animation.

SHAPE MUSIC VIDEO | SCREEN DESIGN
Length: 2 Minutes and 19 Seconds
What I Did: Everything, but music
This was my assignment in Principles of Screen Design. The point of this assignment was to (using whichever software we chose) animate shapes to music. They could not act or look like characters, as the point was to focus on timing out to the music of our choice. In the end it was very much like a motion media experiment.
I used after effects for this project. I'd say the one thing I really enjoyed in this projects was learning on my own time how to animate and achieve certain effects by hand in the software. No automatic effects were used in this piece. And being able to figure out my own timing with the music was a thrill.
