AL OTRO LADO | ART DIRECTION

In February of 2018, I signed up to help fellow SCAD alumni Nadine Promes on her short film Al Otro Lado. She started this project through the Accelerator Program by Mitu and Sony Pictures Animation. I was placed into the role of "Co-Art Director" and I was assigned the job of figuring out the color and lighting for the bedroom/closet sequences and how it affects the character colors. I made color scripts and a color guide for the animators and background artists to work from.

Once that work was near completion we were in a time crunch, so I was placed as "Head of Layout and Backgrounds." I oversaw the layout and background crew. Giving notes and feedback when needed, and making sure everyone was consistent with colors. While doing all of the above, I too worked on my own additional set of layouts and backgrounds that needed to be completed. The producer Eesha Chavan and I worked on the segments of the film that had not been tied down in earlier concepts.

All of this work was done remotely from my home, and I maintained constant contact and meetings with the Director Nadine Promes, and Producer Eesha Chavan. It was truly a dream to work on this film, as visual development has always been my passion.
