COLOR THEORY | GOOGLE DOODLE

The purpose of this assignment was to pick a particular person in any given field of expertise and create a good doodle design based and/or inspired by them or their works.Following the chosen person and design we would then have to create a monochromatic, analogous, and complementary color scheme for our design.

I chose to base my design after the artist Eyvind Earle, who was known for his masterful background work in Disney's Sleeping Beauty, as well as his own personal paintings. Out of all my work within my color theory course, this was the one I felt I was most in my element.

PERSONAL ILLUSTRATION | EASTERN BREEZE

I decided one day to do some studying in eastern art, specifically chinese and japanese paintings and woodcut art. On top of the studies I did on the works in particular, I also studied the landscape and geography of the locations through images and books.

In the end I wanted this to be an inspired piece, but still maintain my own specific sense of aesthetics. I had a ton of fun with this project and it gave me a chance to study and grow as an artist. As it stand this is still one of my favorite pieces I have ever created, and the most orgranized in its process. It was probably the first time I really put a full amount of research into a personal project, and it shows.

FILM STUDY PAINTING | CASTLE ROCK

One thing I really enjoy about film and television is finding sequences with great composition and lighting. By doing a paint study I can practice my painting, and have a better understanding of color and lighting in a dramatic way.
